Reddish – A thriving district with a strong community, a great place to live.

Reddish is an up and coming and bustling area bordering the Heatons and Manchester. It is home to the very popular Reddish Vale Country Park and Reddish Vale Farm. It offers two suburbs of South and North Reddish and benefits from excellent transport links to both Manchester and Stockport. A direct train from Reddish North station to Manchester Piccadilly takes thirteen (13) minutes and the main road through Reddish town leads to the A57 for Manchester and motorway access to the M60/M67. Reddish is an attractive area for first time buyers, growing families and prospective tenants as it offers a range of affordable terraced homes, modern executive estates, apartments as well as Victorian period semi-detached homes.

Reddish, historically part of Lancashire grew and developed rapidly during the Industrial Revolution and still retains historic landmarks from that period, such as Houldsworth Mill, a former textile mill.

Reddish is home to a busy and lively shopping area and high street situated around Houldsworth Square (named after the mill owner) which contains around eighty small shops serving the local community. Reddish was chosen as one of eight areas to benefit from the Agora Project - an EU funded project to accelerate growth and development. Morrison’s superstore also has a presence on the high street.

There are also many well performing schools such as Reddish Vale Technology College in South Reddish which in 2006 became the only school in Greater Manchester to be announced by the Government as a ‘Trust Pathfinder’ school. Reddish offers many nursery and primary schools including Roman Catholic and Church of England.

The area has a strong community spirit, with the historic Reddish Library situated on the main road, a community centre and an abundance of churches and religious buildings throughout the district. The historic mills of the area have now been developed into highly desirable ‘loft style’ apartments.
